Methods that mildly abrade skin such as microdermabrasion and subcision (needling) are useful in speeding scar reduction in concert with BIOSKINCARE CREAM. Skin Remodeling is the Key to Scar Reduction

The removal or reduction of scars, lesions, and stretch marks from the skin depends on a process called "skin remodeling". The skin is designed to heal wounds quickly to prevent blood loss and infection. Scars are manufactured from a rapidly formed "collagen glue" that the body deposits into an injured area for protection, reconnection and strength.

In ideal skin healing, wounded skin is rapidly closed and the healed area is then slowly reconstructed to remove the residual collagen scars and blend the skin area into nearby skin. Scar collagen is removed and replaced with a mixture of skin cells and invisible collagen fibers. This skin remodeling may continue in a skin area for ten years.

In children the rate of remodeling is high and scar tissues are usually rapidly removed from injured skin areas. But as we reach adulthood, this rate slows down and small scars may remain for years. One way to accelerate remodeling is to induce a small amount of controlled skin damage with a needle, laser, microdermabrasion, harsh scrubbing massage, chemical exfoliation or other such means, and then let the skin repair processes rebuild the skin area. A second method is to use skin regenerating accelerators to increase the body's natural healing processes and to obtain an even better final result.

Purpose of the home microdermabrasion procedure

The home microdermabrasion massage is performed just deeply enough to remove the corneocyte cells that are responsible for the impermeability of the epidermis. Removing this layer allows the cream to penetrate deeply.

The goal of the cream is to stimulate the fibroblasts of the healthy zones between stretch marks and act also at the depth of the stretch marks.

The glycoprotein enzyme and the moisturizing and lipid enhancers contained in the cream initiate a partial dissociation of the corneocytes and enhance the penetration of the product by diminishing the superficial tension. Breaking of the barrier function of the epidermis creates an immediate stimulation of the lipids, DNA and growth factors into the keratinocytes that will stimulate their reproduction.

After the action of the abrasion by the microcrystals and the penetration of the cream into the healthy parts of the skin between the stretch marks, the cream also acts at the depth of the marks, stimulating re-epithelization and enhancing fibroblast production.
