Stretch Marks Need not be a Problem Anymore

by Jen Hopkins

Stretch marks are one of the most annoying blemishes that can form on the skin. Aside from being really ugly to look at, they are also very hard to prevent. Some of these are even formed while you were not yet conscious about your body as you were still too young, as these are usually formed during puberty. Other marks are may be formed during pregnancy and these are also very hard to prevent.

Stretch marks are not only hard to prevent, but they are also harder to get rid off compared to normal scars. This is because they form on the underlying layer of the skin which makes them harder to reach. When the skin stretches too far, it is the dermal layer of the skin that tears, so the resulting scars will also form on this layer. You will still need to go through the outer layer of the skin before you can reach the inside.

Since there is a high demand for procedures that can get rid of scars and other blemishes on the skin, many ways have been developed to get rid of them. One of the most popular methods is through the use of scar removal creams. It is popular as this method is very easy to do and is not very expensive. Since stretch marks are also considered as scars, a lot of people have resorted to using these on their marks as well.

One downside to the use of scar removal creams is that they are made for scars on the surface of the skin. This may make them less effective for scars under the surface of the skin. It might be better to use creams that are specifically made for stretch marks as you are sure that it targets the dermal layer of the skin.

Even though creams are the most popular way of getting rid of scars, it is not the most effective. Laser treatments are one of the best ways as it works by physically removing the scar by burning. This way, you are sure that the scar is completely removed. This method also targets the scar tissue itself and no other cells so you are sure that other parts of your body are not affected.

Other methods that work similarly to laser treatment are microdermabrasion and cosmetic surgeries. These also work by removing the remains of the scar so that they will not be seen on the skin. Chemical and mechanical means may be employed in removing these scars. These methods are more expensive compared to using creams.

Others may still try home remedies to get rid of stretch marks. The most popular method used is the application of cocoa butter on the affected area. Other also use supplements of Vitamin A and E which are also needed by the skin. Lastly, another method that some people also use is the massaging of healing wounds, wherein they believe that scar tissue will be broken down so that they would not form any visible scars in the future.

Even though scars caused by excessive stretching of the skin may be very hard to prevent, there are many ways that you can use to get rid of these scars. You can choose from a lot of different ways to get rid of your scars, whether you want to remove them completely, or just lighten them enough so that they won't be easily visible.
