Make your Own Natural Skin Care Products

by Valerie DeVette

Natural skin treatments have quickly become a very popular part of the spa experience. In fact, just about anything you can imagine is being used to make an exotic face and body product, which also explains the elevated costs of most spa treatments.

Nevertheless, you can attain their benefits without spending a fortune. Here's how: you can make them at home. It's actually quite simple. All you need to do is open the refrigerator door and you'll find everything you need to help give your skin a smooth, moisturized, and rejuvenated appearance.

Let's take a look at some of the most popular skin treatments you can make at home: body scrubs and face masks.

Natural Body Scrubs

Body scrubs can help relieve stress and remove impurities from your skin. You can even use ask someone else to apply the scrub for you.

Sea Salt Scrub (do not use if you have dry or sensitive skin):

To make a sea salt scrub simply mix the following ingredients in a medium-sized mixing bowl: 1 cup of fine sea salt, one-half cup of grapeseed or almond oil, 10 drops of grapefruit essential oil and 10 drops of juniper essential oil. Spread the paste over your damp skin and massage gently. Make sure you concentrate on your heels and elbows. This scrub can also help treat your scalp.

Don't use the scrub more than twice a month.

Bran and Almond Scrub:

Make this natural scrub by mixing one-half cup of very finely ground almonds and one-half cup of coarse wheat bran. Once it has been mixed; add 1 cup of hot green tea and form a smooth paste. Allow the mixture to cool and add 10 drops of lavender essential oil.

This scrub can be used once a week.

Seed Scrub

You can make this scrub by using either one cup of finely ground flaxseed or sunflower seeds. Add half a cup of heavy cream or milk and stir thoroughly. It can be used daily even if you have sensitive skin. This scrub is particularly good for the winter months as it helps restore moisture to the skin.

Facial Masks made at home

It is important to pay particular attention to your face as the skin there is more sensitive than other areas. This is why natural skin care is ideal for treating facial skin problems.

Yogurt Mask:

Simply mix together 1 teaspoon of natural yogurt with 1 tsp of runny honey. Apply the mixture to your face and let it set for 15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water.

Lemon Face Mask:

If you want to make a lemon mask you'll need to mix the following ingredients together: four tablespoons of clay, two teaspoons each of lemon pulp, honey, and water. Apply the mask to your face, let set for 15 minutes, and then remove with a moist washcloth.

Spas advertise bio skin care as a great way of treating skin naturally, however all they're really doing is trying to sell you a high-end treatment that basically consists of all natural skin care. You can either fall for their costly promises or do one of two things: make your own natural skin care products or purchase a natural cream that can save you the trouble of making your own mix, yet still be effective enough to treat your skin problems. If you're not sure where to start you can try by using a natural cream such as BIOSKINCARE.
