Dry and Oily Skin: Proper Skin Care and Acne Products

by Valerie Garner

Having healthy skin is about a lot more than just looking good. In fact, our skin is the largest organ in our body and it helps protect us from bacteria and infection. Without healthy skin, our bodies are susceptible to all kinds of problems.

Finding the best skin care product will depend greatly on identifying your skin type. There are three basic types of skin: oily, dry and combination. In this article we will focus on the first two types.

Found out your Skin Type

In order to find out what type of skin you have, follow these steps. First, wash your face with a skin cleanser, rinse and pat dry. Wait for one or less hour and note whether your skin begins to feel tight or not.

Next, press a separate piece of tissue paper on: the outer part of you cheeks, your chin, the center of your cheeks, your nose, the center of your forehead and the outer part of your forehead. Check the tissue for any signs of oily residue or flaky skin residue.

It is believed that you have dry skin if each tissue paper has flaky skin residue. If each piece of tissue paper has oily residue, then you are considered to have oily skin. Having discovered your skin type will leave you better equipped to pick the right skin care routine for your skin. This includes finding the right skin products and acne products.

Skin Care for Dry and Oily Skin

Dry skin should be treated with great care. Products that contain fragrances and other fillers usually irritate dry skin. This is exactly why you should avoid using these types of products.

When treating dry skin you should use a cream or oil cleanser followed by a moisturizer. Exfoliation is also an important step for dry skin. You can exfoliate by using natural products such as milk or grape juice for a gentler exfoliation.

Oily skin care should also include cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing. For this type of skin you are better off using foaming cleansers. The best type of treatment for this skin type are mechanical exfoliators and water-based moisturizers.

These are The Best Acne Products for Dry and Oily Skin

Both oily skin and dry skin types can suffer from acne. The best acne creams for each contain different ingredients especially catered to their necessities.

Oily skin is more capable of withstanding the harsher ingredients in most traditional acne products. However, if you want to control acne in these skin types, you need to make sure that the acne products you purchase contain salicylic acid, retinoids and/or benzoyl peroxide. These ingredients are idea for acne problems because they help control excess sebum production, clogged pores, and acne bacteria.

Dry skin should also be kept adequately moisturized in order to help control acne problems. Non-comedogenic oils that can help cleanse your skin without irritating it are castor oil and olive oil. However, instead of using products that contain benzoyl peroxide, try using creams containing tea tree oil.

Acne skin care must be catered to each type of skin for it to be successful. Natural products such as BIOSKINCLEAR and BIOACNECARE are wonderful treatments for acne because they are both gentle and effective. These natural skin care products are made with Helix Aspersa Muller extract, a gentle natural ingredient that is known to help treat acne without causing irritation.
