' How to get back together' VS. 'How to get over an ex'

by Robert Sinclair

Love is on everybody's mind. You can't escape it, it's as if everything is saturated in it. 80% of what's projected from the television screens deals with the topic. Right around the corner is the next love series like the O.C. Even the history channel will talk about some queens medieval affair. We see the same trend on Amazon. Many book covers are sporting pictures of roses, sunrises and sunsets promising the reader a roller coaster of romantic emotions or even advice on how to get over an ex. In celebrity magazines we see the same thing. They publish information about celebrity breakups and cheating.

We are clearly obsessed by the subject and everything that's related to it.

Even though it sounds bad, I think it's a good thing. The topic should be discussed more in industrialized countries like The Russian federation and Netherlands. These countries see a diminishing population. In many of those countries people think more about their work and how they will succeed in life. While in reality success is often a matter of having a good family. Media praises money and riches and pays less attention to love. There are still plenty of love shows and other romantic media. But I think media should concentrate less on the drama and more on the positive. They show cheating adventures of a husband as if it was the norm. Why not show a faithful husband that comes home to spend time with his kids. Same goes for books that give you the latest advice on how to dump someone or how to get over being dumped. May be we should see more titles that give advice on how to get your ex boyfriend back. In my humble opinion those things will do more good than harm.

Southern parts of the U.S have staggering separation rates (1 in 3 separate. When will it end? Those are mind blowing statistics! Did people stop trying to fix their problems and simply abandon ship? What happened to 'till death do us apart'? Even if one of the union members is cheating, doesn't mean the couple has to breakup. What caused this infidelity? May be it was caused by a grave mistake on the part of the husband? Could it be a minor change in the way the couple communicated? I think the 80 / 20 rule applies here too, where as 80 percent of the difference is caused by 20 percent of change. They say that number one reason that makes wives leave is the lack of appreciation.

On that account, I suggest that we cherish each other. Let's look beyond things that differentiate us and concentrate on things that unite us. Let's be understanding and patient towards one another. Let's choose love instead of hate. Because in the end of the day love always prevails.
